Article - For Parents about Financial Aid


Attention Junior-year Parents and Students! Please schedule a meeting with either Marcia Murphy or myself during the month of February or March to make sure you are on track for your SAT and ACT testing, selecting the colleges you want to apply to in the fall and have your summer plans laid out with time for writing your college essays. This is the time to create your strategy for getting into college next year! The more you can prepare now, the easier it will be to enjoy your senior year next year. Please made your appointment with us soon. Our office hours are usually Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and sometimes Fridays from 8:30am – 2:30pm. We can make arrangements to meet before or after school with enough advance notice….please schedule your appts by calling us or emailing us. Buick Achievers Scholarships Program

$2,000 - $25,000
Eligibility:
High school seniors
Plan to enroll full time at a four-year university in 2012-2013
Major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business
Interest in the automotive industry

Deadline:  February 29, 2012

Deserving Student Scholarship Foundation (DSSF)—
Criteria for applying:

  • Graduating senior who resides in Dallas County
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Plans to enroll in a regionally accredited two-year or four-year college or university
  • Demonstrated financial aid
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Accumulated record of leadership qualities and/or community service activities
  • Submission of a written essay of no more than 500 words on a topic described in the application
  • Deadline:  March 30, 2012
