The Highlands School is currently working on a multi-purpose building project for our campus. Enclosing the existing pad with a roof, walls, roll up doors, lights, air conditioning, restrooms, as well as required fire suppression, would allow us to use it throughout the year for athletic practices and events. By utilizing the existing pad, we can configure 2 full-size practice basketball courts which will also allow for overlaying 3 full size volleyball courts in a different season, facilitating multiple teams practicing at the same time and eliminating the need to schedule late evening practices.
In addition, our cafeteria and assembly room are overbooked, and over stuffed, and can no longer accommodate our current enrollment. Enclosing the existing pad would create a 14,000 square foot multi-purpose building that would hold approximately 800 people. This space would be utilized for not only athletic team practices, but also for all school mass, baccalaureate functions, assemblies, drama presentations, graduation ceremony, etc. Truly we have out grown our existing structural capacity.
Currently, the school serves 400 students and 60 employees, in addition to all of the families connected to the students. This multi-purpose building is critical to the schools success and ability to serve the students and families.
