What Students Use the THS Library? |
Mrs. Hinkson reads weekly to the PreK 3 and 4 students. A story is also read to the kindergarten classes. Grades 1-3 work on 15 minute library skills weekly. Students K-3 check out books weekly. Please fill free to come in anytime with your child to check out books or to browse our selection of videos. This also includes PreK parents. The PreK students don’t check out books during class, but they may check them out if their parents bring them in.

Lower School– PreK– 3 |
Students from grades 4 and 5 come to the library weekly for a 15 minute library skills lesson and 15 minute book check out. These lessons include an introduction to research materials and how to use library databases for research purposes. Students in grades 6-8 come to the library during times in the year when they are doing research. These students are also encouraged to come to the library before and after school to checkout books for recreational reading. |

Middle School– Grades 4-8 |
The library is divided up into age appropriate sections. We have a section of books that only Kindergarteners check out, those books are classified as ERED. The E section books are all of our picture books. We use the Dewy Decimal number system for all of our nonfiction, poems and fairy tales. The JF section books are chapter books suitable for second-fourth graders. The JFY section are chapter books for 5-8th graders. These books are marked with a yellow dot. Mrs. Hinkson makes sure that when the students check out , they are checking out age appropriate books. These rules are flexible, if a parent wants their child to read a yellow dot book, then this child can check out a yellow dot. If your child is not in grades 5-8, but wants to check out a yellow dotted book, they must bring a note from their parent saying it is okay for them to check out yellow dotted books. Some well known books that are yellow dotted are Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, and the Tolkien Collections (Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit etc.) If for some reason your child brings home a book that you find is inappropriate, please let Mrs. Hinkson know. |
