and Pledge for the Annual Fund:
The
Annual Fund Campaign is vital to the success of operating The Highlands
School. All of the funds raised go directly to support the annual
operating budget. Specifically, contributions fund financial aid and
scholarships, academic programs, faculty enrichment and athletics. As
tuition does not cover the full cost of educating our students, we must
rely on the support of our families and friends to close the gap.
Our
expectation is that each family contributes at least $1,000 and we achieve
100% participation. Our community is the foundation of our existence.
Be part of it and participate.
Contribute
today and together we will attain our goal of $275,000!

Get Involved: Elementary
Showing an interest in your child's schoolwork plays an
important role in their future success and education.
When you take an active role in your children’s education,
they perform better in school. In fact, research by the National Parent
Teacher Association (PTA) shows a positive relationship between family
involvement and student success.
Follow these tips on how to get involved with your child’s
school life during the different stages of education: Elementary,
Elementary School
There are several ways parents can help children in
elementary school.
Learn Routines
Regularly talk to your child’s teacher and participate in opportunities to
learn about what’s going on in the classroom. Find out about assignments or
test, and get to know other regular assignments.
“Put regular homework items on your kid’s chore list, and
talk to them about what they are studying,” says Barb Kapinus, senior
policy analyst with National Education Association (NEA). Assist your child
with tasks required for papers or projects, but don’t do the work for them.
Create a Schedule
Help your child schedule project components on a chart. If your child isn’t
currently working on a school project, assign your child a topic that’s
engaging to him or her. This also gives you a chance to get involved in
their learning, Kapinus says. For example, help your child hone writing
skills by having him or her come up with captions for scrapbooks, or create
a geography lesson by compiling a map of world events.
Volunteer
Volunteering in the lunchroom, classroom or at school events, such as a book
or science fair stimulates both your own and your child’s involvement in
school. Bring the entire family to school events.
