APPLICATION PROCESS


Thank you for taking the next step to become a student at The Highlands School.  To apply for admissions to The Highlands, you must complete the steps below.  The following checklist will assist you in creating your child's application portfolio.  Applications are due January 25, 2021, after this date applications will be accepted and reviewed as space is available and on a first come, first serve basis.

APPLICATION CHECKLIST

  • Schedule a Tour 

  • Schedule a Shadow Date - Due to COVID, tours and shadows have been canceled at this time.   Please refer to virtual video tour to see our students in action.

  • Complete an application online.  

    • Parent Questionnaire 

    • Transcripts from Current School

    • Birth Certificate

    • Student Photo

    • Student Essay:  6th - 12th grade applicants

    • Teacher Evaluation(s):  Kindergarten - 12th grade applicants

    • Entrance Exams: 

      • Kindergarten - 8th grade applicants scheduled through Kim Austin

      • 9th Grade Applicants must take the ISEE exam. There are 2 options: 1.) Saturday, January 16th 9am - 12pm at The Highlands School, spots available to prospective applicants,  2.) schedule at local testing sites,  register here (THS code: 443556).  Please note - COVID has changed this process.  

      • 10th - 12th Applicants must provide EITHER PSAT scores OR the ISEE test scores.

    • Principal Evaluation:  All applicants coming from a Catholic school

    • Family Interview:  Scheduled via Zoom through Kim Austin, Admissions Coordinator once your application is completed.

    • $120 Application Fee paid online 

High School transfer applications are only considered at semesters and on a case by case basis.  Typically, transfer students will need some type of credit recovery to meet graduation requirements. 

Starting Age Requirements for 2021-2022

To best serve students in all aspects of academic, physical and social growth, we adhere to a strict admissions age requirement.  Students must meet the following birthday deadlines to enroll in these specific grades.  All students must be fully potty-trained before school starts.  
  PK3 - Children must be 3 years of age by September 1, 2021 
  PK4 - Children must be 4 years of age by September 1, 2021 
  Kindergarten - Children must be 5 years of age by September 1, 2021
  First Grade - Children must be 6 years of age by September 1, 2021

Admissions Decisions 

Acceptance of an admission offer is done by completion of the online enrollment by the date indicated in the acceptance letter to secure a seat at The Highlands.  Applications received after January 25, 2021 will be considered as space is available.
