AFTER-SCHOOL CARE
Supervised after-school programs are available for The Highlands School PreK-8th grade students. After-school Care at The Highlands School provides a safe and organized environment for your child. Every After-school Care employee must complete a background check and safe environment practices through the Catholic Diocese of Dallas yearly.
A calendar of activities is posted at the beginning of every month and a sample afternoon schedule is as follows
3:00 - 3:30
Snack time, begin homework, and silent reading
3:30 - 3:45
Prayers and prayer intentions
3:45 - 4:30
Continue homework and/or outdoor recess (weather permitting)
4:30 - 5:45
Play centers, games, arts and crafts, movies
5:45 - 6:00
Clean-up and prepare to go home
Homework assistance begins in Kindergarten and is completed in a group setting. Older students who can work independently may request additional homework time.
After-school Care hours are 3:00-6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday for registered after-care students. We also provide care on a “Drop-In” basis for all other students. Drop-in charges begin at the time your child is brought into After-care. Any child not picked up after carpool is brought directly to the After-care Center in the school cafeteria and is considered a drop-in. Late pick-up fees begin at 6:01. All fees are billed through FACTS account. Our rates are as follows for the 2023-2024 school year:
