The Highlands School Announces the Appointment of President of the Board  

Irving, Texas – July 2, 2020 - The Highlands School, private Catholic school in Irving, Texas, today announced the appointment of Jeff Schiefelbein as President of its Board of Trustees. Schiefelbein, who joined the THS board this year, succeeds John Holbrook, THS Board Secretary, who served as President of the organization since 2017.
“It has been a great honor to have served as President of The Highlands School Board of Trustees,” says Holbrook, “I am incredibly proud of our accomplishments over the past decade. The Highlands School’s mission seeks to educate the child to face the world with formation to change it. We have served over 3,600 families through Catholic education and formation. I am confident in our future and in Jeff’s leadership as we continue to grow and expand our impact.”
Jeff Schiefelbein has over 20 years of Catholic leadership experience. He is a Founder Partner and Chief Culture Officer of 5, an energy services firm; the host of a monthly Catholic radio show on the Guadalupe Radio Network called Undivided Intention, and served recently as the Chairman of the Board for In My Shoes, the Chairman for the Young Catholic Professionals National Board, and often serves alongside his wife, Amanda, as co-chairs for various groups within the Diocese and pro-life events,   “I am deeply honored to have been appointed as the President of The Highlands School  Board of Trustees,” says Schiefelbein.  “THS is uniquely positioned in the DFW community to not just educate students, but deeply form them and their families bringing them closer to Christ. I look forward to leveraging our award-winning school, strong team of consecrated and priests and committed parents who are all united in the desire to restore deep faith to people in our communities. I also look forward to working closely with Dr. Michael Pennell, our Headmaster; Father Fergal O’Duill, our school’s Chaplain, as well as our experienced and dedicated Board of Trustees.”

The Highlands School Names New Athletic Director

Irving, June 15, 2020 - The Highlands School is excited to announce that Assistant Athletic Director, teacher and coach Denver Bowden will transition into a new role as THS Athletic Director, the former Athletic Director, Steve Wright, became The Highlands School Director of Finance and Human Resources earlier this year.
Bowden began working for the school in 2019 and has taught and coached for over eight years. He is enthusiastic about the opportunity to impact students and the community on a larger scale as he takes on his new role. Coach Bowden is ready to lead the Blazer football program as it makes a transition to 6-Man football. He brings a track record of success in TAPPS 6-Man with great enthusiasm and knowledge that will surely make a positive impact for the upcoming season, and years to come. Coach Bowden is a current member of the Texas High School Coaches Association, and the Texas High School 6-Man Coaches Association.  Coach Bowden will also teach P.E. and Social Studies at THS. “I am thrilled to be stepping into the role of Athletic Director at The Highlands School,” says Denver Bowden, “I look forward to continuing the great tradition of success here at THS based on the mission which is to develop our students into Christian leaders who can make a meaningful difference in the world around them.”
The Highlands School shares Bowden's enthusiasm. Headmaster Dr. Michael Pennell stated that "The Highlands School is focused on putting the right people in the right places to best serve our students and families. Denver Bowden will be an outstanding leader for our Athletic Department. He has well-rounded knowledge and experience with multiple sports and youth organizations. He will serve as a dedicated, faithful and extremely positive representative for our community, at-large." Bowden also garners high praise from school Director of Finance and Human Resources, Steve Wright, who notes that Bowden "brings a wealth of knowledge through his own varied coaching experiences and will be a tremendous asset to our coaches, athletes, parents, and community."
